» Admariano - depo shot and getting pregnant

In response to depo shot and getting pregnant posted by groovy93:

A shot of Depo Provera lasts effectively for 13 weeks with a failure of only 1%. When you cease, the chances of becoming pregnant are 68% within the first year, and 93% within a year and a half. So basically, you may or may not experience a delay with conception after stopping Depo Provera. It is not unheard of, however, to become pregnant quickly within a lapse period. So, if you let your shots lapse, they have to perform a pregnancy test just to make sure. Good luck!

» pmckenzie - I know what your going through...

Please Do Not I reapeat do not get on The Depo shot. You will gain weight, your mean , depressed and your sex life will be over. I am 19 and I have been on the shot for over a year and my next shot is suposed to be on Friday but I`m not going. The shot will ruin your life, your just not the same, and if you still do have sex you will feel like a virgin again cuz it hurts. So please listen to me if you are under 21 and in school don`t get on the shot use condoms and other stuff because you will change. The Shot is sometimes good for older women but not good for young ones. Also my doctor told me you need your period that`s the other way your body gets rid of its toxins and the other things your body doesn`t need. Believe me I know.

» Feature Writer Joanna Karpasea-Jones - depo shot and getting pregnant

In response to depo shot and getting pregnant posted by groovy93:

Each depo shot lasts for 3 months after being given, and then if you stop having injections it can take up to a year for your fertility to return, and in some cases 18 months.

That's why if you want a family in the near future, you should choose a different method of contraception.

» SummerMS14369 - DEPO SHOT

I wouldnt recommend anyone to take that shot. I've been on it for 7 years and it worked great for me. But when I got in a relationship with my boyfriend and we was ready to start trying to have a baby it become stressful. I havent really waited long enough coming off of it but still it was heartbreaking.Ive been off for almost 3 months and still havent had a period or anything. and i felt like i was preg. took a test one said yes two said no had blood drawn waited 3 days then heart got broken saying i wasnt so if youre wanting to make a family you might want to rethink taking the depo shot. once again I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR ANYONE!!!
