I work in an OBGYN office and have 3yrs experience.I have been using the ring for over a year nad it is the best thing out there right now. My patients love it.Sounds like you are a bit confused on how to use it you leave it there for 3 wks and take it off for one whole week w/ in the 3rd day u should get your period.I have not had any of my patients complain about it.I suggest you leave it there like you're instructed and take it for a week if the bleeding continues go to the doctor, you may be having other complications.

I am having the same problems. I have been on the ring for about 4 months now, the first month was a charm no problems. The second month I had a very light period for about 4 days. Then about 10 days later which was near the 4th week time frame I had that same brown discharge so I thought it was just break through bleeding. Well this is the 4th month that this is happening. Last week I went to my ob-gyn and he diagonsed me with bacterial vaginitis (he said my body is trying to reject this foreign object). He said some people can tolerate it and some people can not. He also said sometimes you can go a year or two then it try to reject it. By the way my brown discharge was oderless so that is why I thought it was just breakthrough bleeding. So he put me on that cream you insert into your vagina and it did help but I am still spotting a little, this would be the 11th day I have been spotting now.

Hi! I sort of have the same problem. I stayed on the ring continuosly for 3 months then stopped taking it. My first 2 cycles off the ring were normal (about every 30 days), I am now 2 weeks late for my third cycle. The preg tests are negative. I am going in for a bunch of blood work tomorrow. I am glad to hear someone else sort of had the same problem.

Hello There! I am an R.N. who was looking up information on Nuvaring, as I am on it myself and seriously conisering going off due to information I've found. I would direct you to speak with your Dr. immediately as you are possibly experiencing signs of blood clots (which can then cause pulmonary embolisms or stroke), which users of Nuvaring are at an increased risk of having. Increased migrains and the "bronchitis" you think you may have sound terribly suspicious to me. I would direct you to see your Doctor ASAP and consider a different route for birth control.
Best wishes...
