» Elexis - Started pill 10 days after period. What are my chances?

I started a pill on a sunday after my period was finished, which ended up being 10 days after the first day of my period. I had sex the following wednesday ( 4th day after being on a pill; 14th day after the first day of the cycle...uh-oh)... The only method of contraceptive we used was a "Today Sponge", which incidently was inserted a bit too shallow, instead of being by the cervix, like it states in the instruction manual. My boyfriend came inside me.... What are my chances ??? How likely am I to get pregnant....???

If it is the combined oral contraceptive pill you are taking, this usually takes a week before it is fully effective. Although you were mid-cycle, as you were using the pill and sponge, this would lessen your risk slightly.

However, given the length of time you were taking the pill and the fact that you don't think you inserted the sponge correctly, I would go and see your doctor as there is a small chance you may be pregnant.
