» jessibelle - this week makes my second missed period in a row...help?

Every single month since October or November I've had to take a pregnancy test because my periods have been completely out of sorts. At first I was just really late compared to my usual schedule. Then, I would only bleed for one day and quit when normally I would bleed almost a full week. When taking the pill packet before the one that I started this month, I completely missed my period. I've been on birth control in general for almost 4 years now and none of the brands that I have ever taken have caused me to skip, so this was new to me. I've been on Ovcon-35 for a year or more now and it's only been messing up my periods for the past 3 or 4 months. Every test I have taken have been negative though! I've been told birth control can affect the results of home pregnancy tests, I need to know the truth. I'm taking my period pills right now and still haven't started. If I don't have a period again this month, I'm just going to my gynocologist or a local health department to get a professional test done. I'm sick of taking two or three pregnancy tests every single month when my period comes around! What's going on with me...do you think I'm actually pregnant or is it just my birth control going haywire? Please help!

It may be your new contraception which is interfering with your cycle. Contraceptives can't cause false negative pregnancy tests. Sometimes, certain drugs can cause false positive results.
I would go to your doctor to see if your contraception can be changed. If you're worried about pregnancy, ask for a blood test as these are more accurate than urine tests and can show pregnancy from as early as 2 weeks.
